Teen rushes onto field, saves 9-year-old from heartbreak while her father serves his country

The amazing gesture of a teenage boy is making headlines across the country, and it’s all for the right reasons. Matthew Garcia, a senior at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, Texas, helped a 9-year-old girl during a high-school game by jumping into action at the right moment.

Addie Rodriguez, a fourth-grader, was performing for the high school. At one point, the other cheerleaders’ fathers joined them on the field. All the other girls were picked up by their fathers and lifted up on their shoulders. Addie was the only little girl whose dad wasn’t there. That’s because her dad is an Air Force veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and had to leave before the game.

To Addie’s mom, seeing her little girl all alone in the middle of the field was heartbreaking. She could only imagine how her little girl must have felt being the only one being all alone.

Also witnessing the scene was Matthew who decided to do something to help her. So he hopped the fence, went over to her and kneeled down, asking her if she was okay. Then he lifter her onto his shoulder. You need to see this!
