Russia-Japan railway bridge would let you travel from London to Tokyo

Japan announced it wants to expand the cross-Siberian rail route to allow passengers to travel directly from Tokyo to London by train. According to the Daily Mail, the line that stops at Vladivostok now will connect in the first phase with a six-kilometer-long bridge across from the Sakhalin-based Russian island in the Pacific Ocean. From here, the railway will cross the Japanese island of Hokkaido through a 41-kilometer tunnel. The Japanese media says the Tokyo government has already begun negotiations with Russia, and if they do, the works will most likely start in the spring of next year.
