People laughed when girl with Down Syndrome entered Miss USA pageant, now she’s making history

Beauty is a funny concept, isn’t it? At the end of the day, who is the one who decided if something – or someone – is beautiful or not? I know it sounds like a huge cliché, but I think that there’s beauty in everything, and that everyone is beautiful in their own way.
Well, needless to say, society doesn’t always seem to be on the same page. There are all these imposed standards of beauty that are impossible to achieve by pretty much everyone in this world. They are an endless source of frustration.
And then there are people like the gorgeous young lady in the video below who are challenging these impossible standards and breaking down walls simply by being their incredible selves.
Mikayla Holmgren, a student at Bethel University, is a beautiful 22-year-old woman with a desire to change the world. She also happens to have one of the best smiles you’ll ever seen – and Down Syndrome.
Mikayla is from Minnesota, and she is also believed to become the first woman in United States with Down Syndrome to compete in the world-famous Miss USA pageant. Watch the video below to find out more about it, and how people reacted to the idea!
