Dance is both an art and a form of communication. In the act of dance, people can express an idea, an emotion or a message, and communicate it to the audience in a powerful way that is more likely to make an impact than if that message was simply verbalized.
Dance is a powerful medium for communication, and nowhere is this more obvious than in the video below. In it, Tylar Olsen, a young dancer, can be seen performing a touching routine to honor all the men and woman who put their life on the line every day to serve and protect us.
“ALL the men and women in blue who strap on their duty belt, secure their bullet proof vests, and put their lives on the line each day to keep us safe. May you all return home safe. Keep walking the thin blue line,” she wrote in the caption accompanying the video.
Through delicate yet strong movements, Tylar managed to express her message and her gratitude for the “heroes in blue.” The choreography was inspired by her uncle who is also among the men in blue.
Everybody should see this and remember just how much of a difference police officers make in this world!
