Many hospitals and nursing homes for the elderly have programs of therapy in which their specially prepared pets offer patients a few smiles. Juravinski Hospital is a care center based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and is the first hospital to implement such a program.
The program was launched by Donna Jenkins after her 25-year-old nephew, Zachary, asked her to let her see her dogs for the last time before she died of a ruthless disease called “Hodgkin’s lymphoma” .
