A Diet Coke a Day Keeps the Doctor Away – 104-Year-Old Reveals Soda Is The Key To A Long Life

It’s pretty common knowledge that sugary drinks are not good for your health, as they can lead to weight gain, cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure. But the 104-year-old woman in the video below credits her longevity to an unusual habit that most doctors would deem as being unhealthy: drinking a can of diet Coke every single day.
Theresa Rowley from Grand Rapids, Michigan celebrated her 104th birthday on January 1st and threw a big party to mark the occasion. At the party, a news crews interviewed her wanting to know her secret for a long, healthy life.
The woman’s answer surprised most of those in the room. The woman says that she’s been drinking diet coke since the day it was put on the market and that she can’t go on a day without her favorite drink.
“I drink it because I like it. I’m going shopping Wednesday, and I need more Diet Coke. I have a bag full of empty Diet Coke cans that I need to return to buy more Diet Coke,” the woman said.
Now, although diet sodas are advertised as being the healthier alternative to soda, there have been studies that emphasized on the possible dangers of drinking them on a day-to-day basis. So, it’s important to remember that Theresa crediting her longevity in part to diet coke isn’t backed up by any medical research.
